Lessons
Durations of riding lessons are as follows:
- Group lesson (child or adult) with 3 or more riders is one hour.
- Group lesson (child or adult) with 2 riders is 45 minutes.
- Group lesson (child or adult) with 1 rider will be moved to a suitable group.
- Lead-rein lessons for 30 minutes (rider more than 10 minutes late will not be admitted into the lesson.
- Private lesson for single rider is 45 minutes.
- Lessons will always finish on scheduled time.
- Please be aware that riding lessons are structured. The correct warming-up of rider and horse/pony is vitally important. Riders turning up more than 15 minutes late disrupt lessons. Whilst every effort is made to accommodate latecomers, it must be appreciated that those who turn up on time should receive an uninterrupted lesson.
- Riding lesson times slots/bookings are guaranteed once payment is made. As much as possible we aim to keep the same ride groups with the same instructors. Due to unforeseen circumstances there may be situations that require us to substitute the regular instructor for a supply instructor or reallocate the ride group. In these circumstances no refund for lessons will be given.
- Riders are expected to pay for lessons prior to their lesson. A one-lesson concession will be allowed, but any rider who owes payment from the previous week will not be accepted for tuition.
- As all lesson bookings are in high demand at EEC, two consecutive no-shows without prior notice will result in lesson booking being lost and there will be no refund.
- EEC does not guarantee that individuals will ride the same horse/pony every lesson, nor do we believe that this is conducive to rider progression. Riders will be allocated a mount that is suitable for their ability. Horse/pony changes can only be made through your instructor.
GENERAL RULES
- You ride at your own risk at EEC.
- EEC is a British Horse Society approved establishment and every care and attention will be taken to make sure that your time here is safe and enjoyable.
- Riding is a risk sport. Your choice to ride is voluntary. We take every care to provide suitable horses/ponies for our customers, but all animals can be unpredictable. We strongly advise you to take out full accident insurance cover.
- Riders must be correctly dressed at all times when mounted. Correct dress refers to BSI or EN standard headgear, suitable footwear and long or short sleeve shirt (no vest type tops). We recommend gloves be worn whilst riding. Exceptional circumstances may require an instructor to mount a horse in their lesson to correct a problem without headgear; this action carries the full support of the Manager.
- Anyone mounted on an EEC horse/ pony will not jump without being under supervision of an instructor employed by this centre.
- Any form of ill treatment towards any horse/pony stabled at EEC will not be tolerated.
- Please be advised that anyone competing at home or at other centres is representing EEC. Therefore your actions reflect on EEC.
- Riders should only mount and dismount in designated areas.
- Horses/ponies must only be led through the yard and not ridden except for EEC pony rides.
- The practice of running-up stirrups when not mounted is a basic requirement.

- No unauthorized vehicles allowed on the yard.
