Union Properties dressage competition is fierce

The premier event of the evening was the Medium class, won by Jo Ivemey on Archimedes with a score of 70%. Following closely in second place with a score of 68.2% was Tracy Gill on her improving stallion Worthily. Third place was awarded to Christel Langlois from the Royal Stables riding R S Kahraman.

The Elementary class saw  on-form duo Jo Ivemey and Archimedes take away the spoils, followed by Dubai Polo Club’s Vicky Hamilton, who rode a composed test to score 64.1% on her lovely chestnut gelding Westwind. Tracy Gill and Worthily took home third.

The Novice class saw tough competition between three favourites, with barely 3% difference between their scores. Emirates Equestrian Centre’s Diane Crabtree riding the ever consistent Quantum Star took first place with 63.2%. Hot on her heels with 62.1% was Edith Christmas riding her stunning Arabian stallion Maisan, and third place on 61.1% went to Michelle Woolmer riding Utopia for Zabeel Stables.

Winning the Prelim seniors class was Michelle Woolmer on Lethes Lancer, earning an impressive score 70.9%, the highest score of the evening. Lilian Sternvad scoring 67.3% took second place riding EEC’s Foxy. Third place went to Jason Kilbey from Desert Palm Stable riding Covers Rocket who also received an impressive score 66.4%.

The Prelim juniors class was swept up by the two hottest contenders, Madeleine Drakely and Karin Lindbom. Drakely rode her lovely mare R S Manar to win the class with a convincing 67.7%. Linbom claimed second and third place on Mer Mer and Minstrel respectively.

The final round of the dressage season qualifiers will be held on Monday April 13th at the Emirates Equestrian Centre. The UAE National Dressage Championships will be held the following week and will be run over two days, 20th and 21st of April. Entry to watch is free of charge.
