Final One Day Event at Emirates Equestrian Centre for the season
4/6/2010

Spectators crowded up in the afternoon at the Al Faris restaurant to enjoy the horse entertainment.
The Restaurant has an elevated terrace which is overlooking the Cross Country course – and the popular water jump in particular.
In the 80cm class for Juniors, the winning rosette went to Alyssa Ritters on the mare La Filippa E from EEC. The pair had a good start of the event with a fair dressage score and only one fence down in the Show Jumping.
Alyssa kept focus on the cross country and completed the course with a single refusal but within the time frame she took immediate lead of the class. She said after her win:“I’m very proud of Filippa, she improved so much this season and we have a very good understanding.”

Second in the class was Cyndi Faber riding her horse Boeing from Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club. Cyndi was leading the class after the Dressage and show Jumping in the morning – however a single refusal and time faults on the cross country pushed the pair back. Third in the class was Theresa Ritson riding Delia from EEC.

The Seniors class was won by Franck Fogarolo and Fairytale from EEC. The pair had a clear round cross country which put them head over heels from the second place Tracy Gill and the mare Picarda.

Fogarolo commented: “I really enjoy riding this mare – the course was challenging for many so after we cleared the much feared wall jump I knew that we had won.”

Third place was a tie between Kathryn Muirhead and her mare Vadulla from EEC and Tanja Bornmann and her mare Excelsia Royal from EEC.

For the more brave riders the event also had a 1 meter class which was won by Nicky Rivett riding the stallion Kipling, owned by Nicholas Bruylants from EEC. The pair were in a 3rd place after the dressage and show jumping in the morning – however having the only clear round on the cross country put her on the winners stand. Rivett’s said after her win: “I really enjoy riding this horse and it was great to have the opportunity to compete him in a One Day Event.”

Second in the class was Nathalie Homer and her horse Quatro Nuevo from Dubai Polo and Equestrian Club – Nathalie had a good round show jumping and dressage in the morning – and had she not refused the wall jump the pair would have been in the top.

For the first time EEC featured a Mini Class for children under the age up till 12 years all riding the ponies from EEC. The class was won by Charlotte Millar riding the pony Moss. The pair was in the lead all morning and cleared the Cross Country course as well in the afternoon. Second in the class came Sarah Khairallah riding the pony Pepsi and third in the class was Holly Jones and the pony Strawberry.
