Alanbar takes early honours
1/12/2008

Sulaiman Mohd Alanbar, from the Sharjah Equestrian Racing Club, won the National Mini Grand Pix following a thrilling jump-off with four rivals, on the final day of the AED500,000 Dubai Show Jumping Championship 2008.

The Saudi Arabian took the early event (National Class No4) after an initial clear round, and was also faultless in the jump-off, finishing in 47.75s on Rawthah at the Emirates Equestrian Centre.

That proved too good for home rider Alia Bin Drai, from the Emirates Equestrian Centre, who also made no faults but posted a slower time of 51.74.

The final day of the three-day championship started with the National Juniors & Young Riders Grand Prix, which was won by the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club’s Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Habsi (pictured), who along with Sheikh Ali A Al Qasimi finished with no faults.

But it was Al Habsi who held his nerve on Nemesis De Balliere, only making four faults compared to Al Qasimi’s 22.

Organised by the Dubai Equestrian Club and kindly sponsored by Gulf News, Longines and DOM International, the DSJC started on Thursday and climaxes later today with the DEC Grand Prix.
