Monday evening’s third round of the Union Properties Emirates Equestrian Centre dressage impressed with high scores and well-ridden tests in a multitude of classes.
Taking out the Medium class for the second time running was Tracy Gill on the classy mare Roma, followed closely by Janice Jackson on Vedo. and Leila Dew on Monaco in third.
“I’m pleased with tonight’s result and Roma has once again shown she is very capable.”
The Elementary scores were tight as Christel Langlois riding R S Kahraman and Tracy Gill on Roma battled for first with identical percentages of 71.1%.
However, it was Langlois who eventually came out on top, as it came down to the total collective marks, in which she had just one more than Gill.
In addition to her close second placing, Gill also took third on her own horse Worthily, who is proving to be steady and consistent, and should be one to look out for.
The Preliminary Seniors class was won effortlessly by Zabeel Stables’ Michelle Woolmer and the black mare Utopia.
Kirsty Stroud took second with her horse Peter Du Fort, with Woolmer also claiming third aboard Cartier VZ.
The Purebred Arabian class was won by Abu Dhabi’s Royal Stables rider Madelaine Drakeley on R S Manar, beating Emirates Equestrian Centre’s Celeste Pretorius on Awad. Not far behind in third was Charlotte Drakeley, sister to the winner, riding Sugar Creek Willy.
Dubai Polo Club duo Alyssa Ritters and Baileys on the Rox displayed a steady performance throughout the evening, taking the winning rosette in the Novice class and second place in the Preliminary Juniors class, just being beaten by 0.3% by Karen Linbom and her mare Mer Mer.
There was a dead heat for third in this same class, with Emirates Equestrian Centre’s Amy Barrack on Chloe Dazzler and Royal Stables rider Charlotte Drakeley on her reliable pony Cennan Alarch.
The junior riders are certainly out to prove they are just as determined as the higher classes, with the top eight riders all achieving impressive scores over 65%.
The next competition is the FEI World Dressage Challenge 2008 taking place on December 11 and entry to watch is free of charge.
