1/27/2009

The season has reached is half way mark and the competition is certainly heating up.

The feature class was the advanced medium class which was won by Emirates Equestrian Centre’s Christopher Cyra on the big gelding Woody Allen.

Cyra said, “I was very satisfied with him. I’ve only recently introduced the changes to his work so I wasn’t sure how it would go. I was really pleased that it worked out so well”.

The medium and elementary classes were won by the ever consistent pair Tracy Gill riding Roma.

Gill said “I can’t fault this mare’s work ethic. Roma seems to be thriving on the challenge of the higher level. I will have to look at taking her up to advanced medium; I think she might just about be overqualified to continue competing in the elementary class”.

Impressively those performances  received the highest scores for the evening with 70.7% and 71% respectively.

Christopher Cyra and Woody Allen placed 2nd in the medium class followed closely by Diane Crabtree on the big grey Calosha.

Following Gill in the elementary class was Dara McKenna on her honest gelding Galant Glory scoring 64.1%.

The second placing marked McKenna and her mount’s first rosette of the season and the pairing should now be one to follow.

Kirsty Stroud from the Plantation won the Novice class on her gelding Peter Du Fort with a score of 68%.

Emirates Equestrian Centres Franck Fogarolo and Christine Khairallah finished in second and third place with Dans Boy and Lubo respectively.

This week also saw the second Pure Bred Arabian Championship qualifier, and was easily won by new members of the Emirates Equestrian Centre, Edith Christmas and her stallion Maisan.

Celeste Pretorius placed second, riding Awad and Madeline Drakeley, winner of the first qualifier, came third for Wrsan Farm on Al Khattar W’Rsan.

The Drakeley-Al Khattar W’Rsan duo then went on to win the preliminary juniors class, followed by Jenna Angle on her horse Nadja Du Porteau.

The preliminary seniors class was taken by Celeste Pretorius on the young black gelding Quantum Noir with 70.7%.

Michelle Woolmer with 69.2% came second on Utopia for Zabeel Stable and third place was awarded to Mohammed Al Mhirech riding Al Borait W’Rsan.
