Dubai Pony Club was established about 20 years ago, just after the Emirates Equestrian Centre was first opened. The Dubai Branch works alongside the British Pony Club which was set up as part of the British Horse Society. The aim is to inspire children and create enthusiasm and focus for “ordinary children on ordinary ponies”. It also promotes education in the care and welfare of horses and ponies.
Pony Club Activities
The types of activities that happen over the course of the season range from riding lessons, mounted games, treasure hunts, as well as stable management. We hold show jumping, dressage and cross country leagues, which lead to Championship Finals at the end of the season. Throughout the season the members will take part in training sessions towards the Pony club exams, which are recognised worldwide.
Pony Camp
Pony Camp takes place once a year, usually between February and April, depending on school holidays. Members are welcome to take part on their own horses/ponies or on the EEC’s riding school horses/ponies.
This is an action packed weekend with many activities including mucking out, grooming, tack cleaning, as well as treasure hunts and gymkhana games. The weekend accumulates with a dressage and show jumping competition which parents are very welcome and encouraged to attend.
We welcome new members between the ages 12 to 21 years who are at riding over cross pole level or above, to come and participate in the Pony Club for the new season 2009/2010. Any interests please contact Laila Dew at the Emirates Equestrian Centre.
