Dubai-based Emirates Airline (www.emirates.com) is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, and has received more than 400 international awards for excellence.
Emirates operates 167 wide-body Airbus and Boeing aircraft, and has orders for an additional 238 aircraft, worth more than USD$84 billion. The airline now flies to 116 destinations in in 68 countries, from its international hub of Dubai.
Emirates has experienced rapid and consistent growth, above 20 percent a year on average and has been profitable for the last 25 consecutive years. Financially self-sustained and unprotected, Emirates carried 31.4 million passengers in the 2010-11 financial year – almost 4 million more than the year before – and declared a net profit of AED 5.4 billion (US$ 1.5 billion), the Group’s revenue increased by 26.4 percent reaching a remarkable new level at AED 57.4 billion (US$ 15.6 billion).
